Why did Jonathan Weisman(Washington Post)lie abour Bush/Soc SEC on C-span

this morning on Washington Journal Jonathan Weisman of the Washington Post was telling lies - why?

Bush's prediction in 1978 that Social Security would go bankrupt in ten years if private accounts were not establish - an obvious bad prediction - was called "absolutely correct" - as he implied the excess payroll tax that Reagan/Greenspan obtained in 83 had something to do with private accounts?

And the misuse of Soc Sec employees to sell private accounts as testified at during the hearings was excused by him as they "did not use materials that mention privatization" - so they change in name to personal accounts excuses his lie?

What ethics!

1. Read Ch 8 of "Perfectly Legal" by David Cay Johnston about

how the 1981 Reagan tax cut was paid for by setting up a 'social security crisis'. Sen Moynihan was skeptical of it even then, but went along, it seems, since a source of funding government ... the SS surplus accounts...gave Congress 'cover' to pay for those tax cuts to the rich, and more. Taxes were increased from 1982-1993 on and off. The Dems got all the blame of course but the Repubs used the tax cuts (remember, taxes cut to the rich are made up for by taxes TO someone else, namely the REST OF US -- or, as Leona Helmsly called us, the Little People).

Chapter 8 is all about how we subsidize the Wealthiest !

But an anti- Bush truth is always questioned.
