PBS "News Hour" shamless corporate advertising
It seems one cannot watch a PBS program these days without watching a thinly-veiled "commercial" at the beginning. My least favorite is Wal-Mart's sponsorship of the otherwise excellent "Tavis Smiley" program.

I subscribe to the "News Hour" daily email alert. The shameless corporate advertising is carried there, as well. Here are the logos and banner:

Any thoughts how we can get corporations OUT of public broadcasting?

2. Corporate America will have its very own propaganda network
....with PBS and NPR which the people fund and corporations get to shove their crap ideas down our throats. I have never been able to understand the NPR donation drives seeking millions of dollars. How expensive is it to broadcast classical and jazz recorded music using volunteer help?

3. Fundraising drives are local
drives, not national drives. NPR charges stations "subscription fees" to get the right to air their programs. That is why local stations need to raise that money to pay for the programming.

And not all broadcasting on Public Radio stations comes form NPR. Many other stations syndicate other shows to other stations across the country. "American Public Media" is Minnesota Public Radio and "Public Radio International" also used to be MPR until recently.
