Thom Hartman should come to AAR. Though Olberman would be good (so would Jon Stewart).

A different format. Maybe more variety hour type show....with no set host but rather segments from different contributors, like Jon Stewart.

I'd love one of these shows to be good from start to end so i could burn an hour to a CD and distribute them to my non AAR listening friends.

I like Hartmann A LOT. He's so smart, he has a command of history and he makes mincemeat of the freepers who call in.

BUT...remember AAR is trying to be different than NPR by being entertaining. I like Hartmann but he's a snooze to a lot of people.

Remember the biggest thing about AAR is that it can deliver people to liberal activism, so it should appeal to mainstream people, not just the choir of hardcore liberal activists.

I think Al would be great as a guest on any of the other shows. I won't be sad to see him go if he does.

Al has some decent guests and a few laughs. Still, I learn a lot more from Thom's show.

I'd love to have him there, but I don't want him to quit everything due to sudden burnout.

If AAR gives him a much larger audience, maybe it's worth dropping the one for the other. But he has such a great show, I'm reluctant to encourage anything that would mess that up.

He has a kind of famous salon article, Mea Culpa, where he makes reference to his ideal schedule being one or two shows a week, which was maybe entirely joking, I don't know. But it makes me question whether the man needs a daily radio show AND a tv show in his life.

I want him to remain unbiased. He is the only perfect example of journalism we have on television.
I don't necessarily think he's "liberal" in the sense that AAR talksters are, anyway, he just doesn't shy away from stories that need to be told.

21. Actually, Keith has done radio before

He did radio shows the entire 8 years he was a sports anchor in LA, then he played a large role in signing-on ESPN Radio in 1992 when he went to work for ESPN.

I want him to stay with MSNBC because I'm selfish and I like seeing him 5 days a week. But I wouldn't object at all if Al would have him on his show on a regular basis.

Wouldn't you be outraged if a journalist/reporter got his or her own show on a right-wing talk radio network? There are countless people who could fill Franken's shoes.
