New media swarm takes down old media CNN news boss
The new media swarm effect of the blogosphere, which -- apart from Matt Drudge -- figured on no major radars before the 2004 election race in the US, has claimed the scalp of one of mainstream media's top news bosses: Eason Jordan, CNN's chief news executive.

The development follows by only five months the "early retirement" of CBS News anchor Dan Rather in the wake of a largely blog-based campaign -- Rathergate -- surrounding that network's faulty handling of forged documents in a major pre-election story about George Bush.

During a 28 January discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Mr Jordan apparently repeated a claim that has gained wide currency in the tabloid left, that American soldiers had deliberately targeted and killed journalists in Iraq.

The new media cometh and lay wasteth.

3. One way...
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 03:25 AM by HR_Pufnstuf
...would be to create a searchable text database of ever quote every mentioned by any talking head on that channel, if someone wanted the tivo project of the millennium. It would be a great aid in researching the propaganda they feed the sheep, particularly if you start to see a run up to an Iran War.

We need the ability to hold them accountable for what they say/do at a later date.

Another way is to expose stories that are beyond their ability to keep in spin. This GannonGate will test that theory.

Kudos to http://www.americablog.org/ on that coverage.

You go.

4. The best way would be to...
persuade people to quit watching the television.

5. they lie so much
they are a thousand things to get them on. I remember when the DC area snipers were about to be caught, they insisted they had reliable information that they were Islamic terrorists trained at a camp in the US South. The whole channel is fictional from what I can tell.

6. Whenever FOX gets caught,
they fall back on "well, it's commentary, not necessarily journalism".
