Andrea Mitchell, in reporting on the Downing Street Memos, is just now getting around to figuring out that we as a Country were lied and goaded in to war.
She's covering a story that's already a MONTH OLD. I knew the people in old media were torpid, but this really takes the cake.
You'd never guess that NBC reporters all cash a check from General Electric every pay period. You remember GE, don't you? They're the makers of such warm and fuzzy family-oriented consumer products as military grade nuclear powerplants, Navy and Airforce jet engines, and the gatling guns for our Blackhawks. Oh, and soft-wite lightbulbs that bring good things to light.
This whole thing in Iraq is nothing more than war profiteering, and it stinks on ice.
IMHO, it's a damnable tarbaby (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarbaby for those of you not originally from the south ).
We can't get out. Iraq is, for just that reason, the worst foreign-policy disaster in 30 years. If we ever leave, it'll degenerate in to a civil war in about a minute. If we stay, it's non-stop bombings on our boys and girls in uniform, until we pull out.
America was purposefully sold the idea that the country could take a Bush Presidency, just so long as he was surrounded by the best advisers. The very best Republican thinkers would answer the call:
I wonder; does the pickle we're in over there look like the result of good advisement, or bad advisement?
Will you ever hear that question out of an NBC reporter's mouth?
Don't hold your breath.
