http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=48979WASHINGTON, June 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Media Matters for America today released a comprehensive study of media coverage of the Downing Street memo showing that the media has given the memo little substantive coverage.
Media Matters President and CEO David Brock said, "Media Matters' study illustrates the media's failure to give these revelations the attention they deserve, leaving the American public uninformed."
According to the study, the Downing Street memo was not mentioned a single time on any of the major networks for more than a month after the document was first revealed by the Times of London on May 1st. Until British Prime Minister Tony Blair came the United States in early June, the Downing Street memo was only mentioned on six cable shows on CNN, FOX, and MSNBC, with only two doing full reports. After six weeks, ABC still has not reported on the memo at all, and CBS has not done any original reporting.
