If I understand the law correctly, a caller to the Howard Stern show can cause Howard Stern to be fined if an "obscene" word gets on the air - because he was unable to stop it.

So, with the Right-Wing fascists controlling the FCC, are they going to fine CNN, the moderator, and James Carville for allowing James Novak to get an obscene word out over the air on live TV?

Sounds to me like they'd do that . . .

4. Cable outlets don't fall under the FCC jurisdiction re: obscenity
The "public" airwaves and programming that you bring into your house on a piece of wire or through a satellite equipped with a signal decoder are not the same thing.

5. You don't want them to
because that would mean they'd be regulating cable shows and we don't want them to go there.

Personally, I don't think they should fine Howard Stern and they definately shouldn't have fined CBS (it was CBS, wasn't it?) for Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction." It's all a pile of bull$hit to quote Mr. NoFacts!

7. Exactly.
I don't want a precidence set to allow fines for other shows - hell, I just want them to stop fining broadcast television.

Quit telling me what I can and cannot hear - if I don't like something, I should be able to decide myself that I won't listen.
