NY Post--Sorry You Lost, Yankee Fans?
Yup, the hacks at Rupert Murdoch's print voice in NYC actually editorialized on this morning's newsstands about the Red Sox winning the pennant (second editorial down)...

The quality just leaps off the page...

May they all find another source! Thanks for this!
Reminds me of another headline in the rag: JESSICA TORTURED!
and the priceless:
LAURA BRAVES THE WEASEL'S KISS
(about Pickles clashing with civilization)

6. Mindless Headlines in Brainless Tabloid
Other great headlines in the Post...

Sam Sleeps!

Beatles to Reunite (the story that accompanied it began on the front page with the breathless details and jumped to page 14...where the first sentence was "Spokespersons for the four Beatles denied the group had any such plans.")

and of course

Maniac Stalks Olivia Newton-John

My all time favorite went back to St. Patrick's day of 1975 and pre-dated Murdoch. It was a landmark of bad layout:

A Great Day for the Irish; President Warns Israel

7. Nothing, but nothing, beats the NY Post classic headline from '82:
HEADLESS BODY
IN TOPLESS BAR

8. There's a funny novel about tabloid journalism
and editor pursuing the perfect tabloid headline, Ahab-like. It's titled "Dwarf Rapes Nun; Flees in UFO."
