Did the media ever discuss Obama's Wal-Mart connection when he bashed Hillary in the SC debate?
I haven't seen anyone in the media mention that Obama's own wife gets $45,000 for setting on the board of a company that is a major product Wal-Mart supplier - with all the "lowest price" supplier means in terms of worker wages and conditions. Now Treehouse (formerly Dean) Foods' biggest customer is Wal-Mart (private-label and branded pickles (Farmans, Nalley's, Peter Piper, and Steinfeld); non-dairy creamers (Cremora, Mocha Mix); and baby food (Nature's Goodness), with aseptic (shelf-stable) and refrigerated foods, including cheese sauces, puddings, and liquid egg substitute (Second Nature)). But the Treehouse board seems not into have been "changed" from GOP pay concepts by Mrs. Obama - with non-progressive executive compensation that begins with a CEO Gregg L. Engles taking down $11,025,493 last year ($1,200,000 in cash with the rest "hidden" until reported on their SEC forms).

7. Precisely...reminds me of this voter who called into the Tom Joyner show the other day
And said that we should vote for Obama first, then see what he wants to do for Black America. He said Obama was simply trying to get the Dem nomination...so we need to vote for him, let him get the nomination, then see what he wants to do for Black America.

I was just stunned and dumbfounded at that. And sad.

4. Per the MSM and the rest of the Obama supporters...there is no questioning the Obamas
There is no accountability for them, whatsoever.

How dare you question them?

What are you, someone dealing in the facts? How dare you?

8. You know..I noticed that too.....I thought I was the only one who noticed
They did exactly that...kept playing her "slumb landlord" comment without even really playing the Walmart comment by Obama.

Very sad.

and then we'll be fucked in the GE.

When your opponent is not attacking you, theres a damn good reason and the only i can see why the RW pundits and repugs are not attacking Obama is, because they know if he gets the nomination, it will be destruction unbound on him.

11. None of the candidates are completely clean of some connections
that are viewed by some as BAD. I think it was foolish for Obama to bring up hillary's connection to WM many years ago if he knew his wife had a close connection now. That's just asking for trouble. I'm much more concerned about his constant talk about "working with the Pubs" than I am about who might have or has a connection to a particular company. I don't think there's any chance of "working WHIT the Pubs". To work with somebody, you have to have a willingness on both sides to do so, and there is NO willingness on the Pub side! That might be a way to get a few Pub votes, but it sure isn't doing anything to get mine!

13. 16% of their sales were Wal Mart
So you are honestly saying you believe that sitting on the board of a company who sells 16% of their product to Wal Mart is equivalent to sitting on the board of Wal Mart itself? Oh and by the way, she resigned from the board of that company earlier this year.

14. Obama lied, the dream died!
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 02:19 PM by cd3dem
who comes to mind besides Obama on the idea that if you criticize him, you will be criticized for it! It seems we are acting like republicans in that we are falling for the idea that we can not criticize Obama or we will be labeled racist... just as anyone criticizing Bush was labeled unpatriotic...

I noticed George asked Obama this morning about his Rezco dealings and let Obama off easy... #1 he failed to mention the fact that Obama's real estate transaction he had with Rezco, who was being indicted, gave him a property priced $300,000 below market value for what he paid for it... #2 George failed to point out the lie Obama made during the debate that all he did for Rezco was 5 hours of legal work while a junior attorney... when he wrote letters of recommendation for Rezco while a state representative... and made huge profits from a 20 year relationship....

or Michelle Obama deliberately misconstruing Bill Clinton's "fairytale" comment, or the fact that Obama was clearly baiting H. Clinton in the South Carolina debate even before the Wal-Mart comment.

I think it's instructive to note who the corporate media is propping up/tearing down at any given moment, regardless of the candidate being hyped or taken down. (For the record, I also thought the press deliberately mischaracterized Obama's playful comment to Hillary that she was "likable enough.")
