My only complaint about the press quoting Samantha Power's remark is that they
don't use the complete quote.

They quote her saying that Hillary is a "monster", without adding the part that puts that in context:
i.e., "she will stoop to anything to win."

1. career politicians will always stoop to anything to win, as will obama if necessary
when the "look at me Im the new MLK" marketing ploy stops working, a new strategy will emerge. both candidates shift according to their perceived needs at any given time. let em get as nasty as they want, they are both washington insider war supporters.

2. It was a childish, vicious unwarranted, unprofessional character attack

And Barack kicking her to the curb is about the only thing I admire him for.

4. All the world heard was Hillary is a "monster"
Anything past that was irrelevant.
She fucked up and there is no other way to put it, you can't spin it.

more bang for the buck, so to speak. People should know that someone as intelligent and
politically aware as Samantha Power believes that Hillary will stoop as low as they go and do
absolutely anything to win.

Sort of like a Republican...

11. You may agree with Powers but, the fact that she called her a monster
was all it took for the media to fry her.

As a member of any campaign, you can't use derogatory comments about opponents without some repercussions.

She said Hillary was a monster, the media heard it and exposed it. I am sure that if McCain said something similar about her or Obama that it would be ignored but that is another issue.

12. And to think that Edwards lost his standing because of a damned haircut.
Unbelievable.

13. There again, campaigns have to be careful in everything they say and do.
The microscope is on them. Specially the Democratic candidates.

14. But just think of it: Edwards was beaten up over an expensive haircut, and then ignored to death.
Hillary praises the Republican candidate, time and again, over her Democratic opponent, and ...what?
Nothing? She gets a pass from the newly attentive press?

A pass, for Hillary Fonda Clinton?

How anyone can justify this is beyond me.

6. What really sucks is that it was off the record.. and it became published.
this is bad journalism.. it should not have been reported.

16. I didn't realize it was mid-sentence.. too bad for her. And I've said
worse about both candidates left.. and I would go on the record. Oh, you can add Pelosi and a few other "protector of President 19%" to that list.

15. No
"Off the record" is granted only if agreed upon beforehand. Otherwise, anyone could use it to say whatever they wanted and then effectively erase it.

That's always been the way it is, and there was a time when sources knew it as well as reporters. But "journalists" such as Fucker Carlson have done their best to be enablers to those they favor, or want to be favored by, that more and more people think they can get away with saying "You can't use that." As a result, we get less news, but more news from "unnamed sources."

And then Carlson has the monumental gall to tell Gerri Peev that American journalists have higher standards than those in Great Britain.

17. I realized this after.. clicked on a few diff. threads.. I didn't realize where the
"off the record" was. So, not bad journalism; just bad luck and timing.
