BBC Web site has a "new look", and it sucks.
Same creeping "white space disease" that's infected everything from Web pages to utility bills -- more white space between lines than the height of the text. I'm not paying for more pixels to display blank space!

And they thought it would be a great idea to make pages wider -- apparently laptop users are such an insignificant minority that they need not be considered.

Worst of all, most of the text can't be shrunk, and there's not even an option on the page itself to do that -- you have to use your browser's options.

Go to http://news.bbc.co.uk/ and see. Leave a comment if you feel appropriate.

1. What bugs me is the
new paragraph for each sentence. It has been a rare occasion for me to find a paragraph with two or more sentences.

2. I just left a grumble about that damn light blue type
It's incredibly difficult for me to read.

While I don't expect the world to kneel before my own particular disability, bolding the type is an easy fix that will make the page a lot easier for everybody to read.

I don't honestly care about all the white although I do find the present format less visually attractive than the older one.

3. Those lists definitely need tightening up
With those tall line-heights it's hard to tell what elements belong together and I agree with Warpy about the low-contrast type.

That being said, you can view the low-graphics version: http://news.bbc.co.uk/text_only.stm

Or my favorite way of reading the BBC... via my feed reader (Google Reader in my case).
