Conservative Hate Radio.......hot bed of hypocrisy
I remember years ago when Daddy Bush was in office. I was listening to Bob Grant on the way home (just as I listen to Rush and Hannity now, a sickness of pain I inflict on myself)

Anyway.

Bob played a clip from the Arsenio Hall show ( I was never so sick as to watch that) in which Arsenio ripped into Bush.

Bob took Arsenio to task. Explaining how Bush was not just a man, he was President of the United States. That it was ok to disagree with him, ok to criticize him, but you must always respect the office if not the man.

For eight years Bob Grant and other Right wing hate mongers tore into Clinton something fierce. Showing a complete and utter disrespect in doing so.

When He uttered those words all those years ago, I in fact agreed with him. In the years that followed I laughed everytime he uttered a "fake phony fraud" accustation. Because those bunch are nothing but hypocrites, changing their rules as it suits them.

2. And the choir says....
Amen KensPen!!!

I've heard RW Radio hosts blatantly declare "I will not criticize Rush Limbaugh". This goes beyond hypocrisy - to something where not only are you a blatantly hypocrital, but proud of it! (We need a new word!)

3. I would stop listening....
But they are damned effective at drumming out their message.

I hear what they say and think it mindless propoganda. But the next day I hear it regurgatated at the office as fact.

They are quite effective at being amazingly hypocritical and not being called on it.

Like the "Hollywood Elite".
They went on a months long rant about The Dixie Chicks and Susan Serandon. How Hollywood types should shut up and stay out of politics.

Yet how fast did they all jump on Arnold's bandwagon.

They attack the left and accuse us for having a fascination with celebrity. yet they are the ones who elect them.

Arnold,
Reagan
Charleton Heston,
Sonny Bono (does he count?)

4. You forgot a bunch -
Fred Grandy - Gopher from the "Love Boat", Shirley Temple, Clint Eastwood - mayor of Carmel, CA,
Alan Autry from "In the Heat of the Night" - mayor of Fresno, CA, and former Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennesse of film and TV fame.

Good luck finding a Democrat who was actor. I bet you'll have to go back to Shirley Temple's era.

Their hypocrisy is astounding. :puke:

5. "We hate France"
The whole Anti France campaign this summer reeked of hypocrisy....

A local restaurant dumped a case of Dom Perignon into the gutter....

Ok so they dumped a couple hundred dollars worth of product and received thousands of dollars worth of advertising,

But what really bugged me, was the Talk show crowd slamming France as a bunch of cowards who let their financial interests come before their demanded blind loyalty to us,

while at the same time,

explaining why we could not treat Saudi Arabia as the hostile nation they are due to OUR financial dependence on them.

and yet this never struck them as being hypocritical.

6. Why does the "no spin zone"
spin so fast....

O'Reilly had a piece on about the "hate Bush" rally...
he called it a hate Bush meeting. Focused on the hate.

He had a guest, (sorry didn't catch the name or recognize him) who did a good job articulating what the meeting was about. How it was not rabid hate, rather a conviction the man is not up to the job, and a desire to see him replaced.

O'Reilly dismissed all the facts by saying in effect, "everyone in the room LOATHES Bush, so it doesn't matter what they said or how they acted it was a hate Bush rally"

spiiiiiiiiiiiin.

7. It's about the advertising, market share, out-rage, and profit
Edited on Fri Dec-05-03 08:51 PM by Homer12
Right wing hate radio survives by selling advertising to the demographic that listens to it the most.
In this case middle aged white males afraid of black people, women, and immigrants.

These radio hosts would never admit but if you take a close listen to how they go out of their way to out-rage these people, you'll see that they use anger to keep their audience and sell more advertising.

It's about market-share, anger, and selling a ideological product to their audience while the station is giving their advertisers the ears of the listeners to the shows.

AM Hate Radio is a well-produced product were ethics takes a back-Seat to Profit and the Opinion Rush L. CLones Ego.
They lost any ethical and moral high-ground the second they realized they could USE their listeners for THEIR selfish ideological agenda. Charlie Sykes in the Milwaukee area is this sort of person.

9. Exactly.
It's all fear-based marketing. There are few things that excite people's passions and move them to action more quicly than "fear". If it bleeds, it leads.

It's how this nation accepted our attacking Iraq. Nobody wanted to see that "smoking gun in the form of a mushroom cloud."
