"Does MSNBC officially support Obama?" Matthews: "Well, it's not official."
LAT: Chris Matthews comes clean about Barack Obama

Chris Matthews will be forever linked with the word "Hardball" (the name for his talk show on MSNBC, incidentally, was derived from a book he wrote).

But Matthews played a little softball for Barack Obama Monday night during an appearance at a Harvard University forum during which he was pressed about perceptions of bias in the cable network's campaign coverage.

When asked by an audience member about how he responds to claims that MSNBC officially supports Obama, the Harvard Crimson notes today, "Matthews responded with typical 'Hardball' wit: 'Well, it's not official.'''

The Crimson correspondent also reports that Matthews sang Obama's praises throughout his speech, calling the Illinois Democrat a symbol of the change that the country needs. "We need to elect a president who has been a student of the world and is a student of the world," Matthews said.

6. I agree. IMO Tweety has "blown hot and cold" on both candidates. Obama tingles his leg...
but can't work a diner, is not an ordinary guy. We know his true feelings about Hillary, but lately he's praised her as a campaigner. Maybe he's waiting to bloviate nonstop about McCain's "integrity" and "straight talk."

8. The whole Rev. Wright issue was so overblown by Tweets;
I really wonder if these talking heads get their daily marching orders from their corporate masters as Scarborough suggested on Maher recently. If that's the case, the money must be very enticing for them to lose their integrity.

9. Oh, true. That's such a big issue, I think I have it filed in a separate category...
in my head, above and beyond Tweety.

3. I think he was yanking the questioner's chain
No one could have watched MSNBC for the last 7 weeks of "all Wright all the time" and came away thinking they were Obama supporters (outside of Olbermann).

10. That's true. Joe has seemed lately to come to Hillary's defense. When he first...
went on the air, he apologized to her on-air for his part in the impeachment, saying those years were not his best. Maybe he gives her some extra consideration stemming from that.
