McClellan on 'Meet the Press': Bush Should Have Fired Rove

NEW YORK In a wide-ranging interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" today, former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan said President Bush should have fired aide Karl Rove when he learned Rove was involved in leaking the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame. Bush had once promised to fire anyone in his administration who had leaked Plame's name. "I think the president should have stood by his word and that would mean Karl would have left," McClellan said this morning.

McClellan also stood by other charges in his book and told Tim Russert that he was part of a "propaganda" plan to promote the Iraq war.

McClellan said he would donate part of the profits from the book to veterans causes, but did not specify how much.

Defending himself from charges of hypocrisy for not speaking out sooner, he said he had simply, on reflection and gaining further information, come to see the many faults in the president and his ability for "self-deception." McClellan said he was telling the "truth, as I see it," and urged others to speak out.

His book has hit #1 at Amazon.com.

2. Rove is the true core of deception
in this administration.

It may not happen but he deserves the harsh sentence/presidential pardon more that any of the other criminals up there.
