Is this purely a bottom-line consideration, or a means of keeping audiences away from making qualitative comparisons between the Democratic and Republican Conventions?

Do they believe that the Republican Convention will pale by comparison with the Democratic Convention and want to distract viewers, or are they just trying to get the jump on their competition by getting viewers hooked on programs for the rest of the season?

at the political views of Fox (Entertainment not News) folks, all the way up to Murdoch's right-hand guy. Like most in the entertainment industry, they're liberals and Democrats. And Murdoch is pretty hands-off when it comes to Fox Entertainment Network, as is evidenced by "The Simpsons," etc.
