CNN's hologram on election night

What did you guys think?

It looked pretty absurd to me.

TIME had a great point: "The mind reels at how news organizations might employ this technology in the future. Will we see holograms of reporters standing outside in hurricanes?"

1. Wasn't it just a green screen image? When did that get new? nt

3. It's a virtual set, which is pretty new technology

But the "hologram" certainly isn't a hologram, it's just a person standing in a 2-wall green screen room, composited into the virtual set.

4. Okay, but thanks for clarifying it's not a hologram. I thought that needed

some super-special setup stuff.

Actually I had thought in the 80's that by now we'd have life-size holograms as party items. I thought Tim Conway would be a big hit.

it need about 30 cameras. I'm not sure why they bothered other than for a bit of light relief - as the actress said to the bishop.

5. I do appreciate the geeks (and I say that fondly) who worked so

hard on it. Their mission was accomplished. Now that they know it worked, please, don't ever use it again, it was creepy....LOL.
