Glenn Beck is quick to say that, whatever he does with his new show - launching Monday at 5 p.m. on the Fox News Channel - it is not by definition a newscast.

"We're obviously commenting on the news of the day," Beck told the Daily News. "But I don't want it to be confused with a news show. There's a news anchor who will be standing by in case news happens. The last person you want to hear something horrible has happened from, is me."

Beck has been off TV screens on a daily basis since October, when he and Headline News parted ways after he signed a multiyear deal with Fox News.
