Statement from Randi Rhodes posted at Green 960's website. No longer with Nova M.
Not a surprise perhaps to those who have been following recent events and previously saw Anita Drobny's statement at the Nova M site. But this statement from Randi confirms that she's no longer with Nova M.

UPDATED WITH MESSAGE FROM RANDI RHODES

NOVA M RADIO HAS NOT YET CORRECTED THE PROBLEM THAT HAS KEPT ME OFF THE AIR DESPITE MY STRONG DESIRE AND READINESS TO BROADCAST MY SHOW. RESPECTING THE EMPLOYER-EMPLOYEE RELATIONSHIP THAT HAS EXISTED BETWEEN NOVA M AND ME, AND EXPECTING THE SOLUTION TO BE QUICKLY ACHIEVED, DETALIS OF THE DISABLING EVENT WERE WITHHELD IN GOOD FAITH. BUT I CAN TELL YOU THIS MUCH: YOU SHOULD NOT BELIEVE ANY STATEMENT IMPLICATING ME AS BEING IN ANY WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DISRUPTION IN THE RANDI RHODES SHOW. THERE IS NO TRUTH TO ANY SUCH MESSAGE. IN FACT, I DID EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO HELP NOVA M MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO RETURN.

IN LIGHT OF MOST RECENT DEVELOPMENTS, MY SHOW WILL BE SEEKING A NEW HOME. I WOULD ASK FOR YOUR CONTINUED PATIENCE AND INDULGENCE IN RESPECTING MY RIGHTS DURING THIS TIME. YOUR UNWAVERING SUPPORT IS CHERISHED. THANK YOU.

RANDI RHODES

1. Just f**king wonderful. I guess this means Mike Malloy might be next as well?
It seems like when one of the really good shows starts to have trouble, they all do. And while I do listen to Randi once in a while, Mike Malloy is by far my favorite Nova M show, so I really don't want him to end up affected also.

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread or anything, it's just the wheels in my head spinning. I'm sorry that Randi is having to move on as well. :(

2. My hunch...
my instincts-- along with her history of "dramatic exits"--make it difficult to believe Randi to be blameless. I suspect we'll never know for sure.
Paint me unsurprised, however.

3. I'm starting to think Dial Global (formerly Jones) is trying to recruit Randi
Apparently there was this event in Washington DC just before the inauguration where Randi and Ed Schultz - who hadn't had a kind word to say about each other in years - decided to end hostilities and actually hugged each other. I didn't see the event, but apparently it was on C-Span.

Ed Schultz is on Dial Global, as is Stephanie Miller. And Thom Hartmann just recently signed a deal with them, which I believe begins as of April 1. Even without Randi, this makes Dial Global the leading syndicator of progressive talk radio, and they certainly have done well at marketing their existing talent.

The problem with that company is that they also syndicate right wing talk shows, and the decline of Air America is proof of what happens when you put "Liberal" talk radio in the hands of right wing businessmen.

Internally, Dial Global would have problems with Hartmann, Rhodes, and Schultz all on their network, because it would be impossible for any affiliate to carry all three shows live, and someone might have to change their time slots.

This would leave Nova M with only Mike Malloy, and only Ron Reagan to keep What Remains of Air America treading water during the week.

So your favorite shows might remain on the air, but corporate consolidation continues to be the controlling force of radio :evilfrown:

15. A replacement for Bill Press...
If Thom Hartmann is going to be sydnicated by Dial Global, could Thom Hartmann be a AM drive-time replacement for Bill Press, Portland location notwithstanding? His show is infinitely better, and he has done AM drive-time radio in the most recent past. Imagine this lineup: (all times Eastern)

Thom Hartmann 6-9A
Stephanie Miller 9-12N
Ed Schultz 12-3P
Randi Rhodes 3-6P

This would be the Dream Team of Progressive talk radio! Now if we could only move Lynn Samuels off the air, Alex Bennett to Stars 2 or POTUS, and MIP (Make it Plain) to 6-9P on Sirius Left 146.

6. Habit, indeed...
Given how she treats her callers and guests on not infrequent occasions, I'd have to think that she is very difficult to work with. As a female professional who has been accused (and sometimes guilty) of same, I don't say this lightly. I empathize with how hard it has been for her to excel in this very difficult career. But, I think Randi has some deep seated insecurities that drive her, motivate her, and, yes, cause her to be somewhat self-destructive.

12. Don't care where she goes. I'll follow.
Picking on Randi for her personality is the height of foolishness. Perhaps such commenters prefer their news analysis delivered by blown-dry plastic heads with vacuous expressions. I'll take the real thing, thank you. Randi has It, that power of information-sifting and foresight that so few have, and certainly no one inside mainstream media, with the possible exceptions of Keith and Rachel.

She deserves better than she's gotten. AAR committed suicide by suspending her, although they have recently attempted to return from the dead by hosting Break Room Live, which is a kick-ass show.

I miss having her on AM radio around here. The Democratic Primaries really claimed a lot of victims -- Sacramento's AAR station was replaced because the owner was a Hillary supporter, and viewed AAR's hosts as hostile to Hillary. Now, I can only stream. Which I'm learning to do.

Randi's not exactly a peacemaker. But she's intensely honest, and smart, and funny. I'll keep looking for her, wherever she goes, until I die. I've learned more from her about the insides of American politics than from any other source.

Thanks for posting this -- I had wondered what was going on.

16. I AGREE with her most of the time but
Find her a personality and voice grating and yes....for professional on-air radio talent, personality matters!

I also cannot stand to listen to Mike Malloy and his Rush-ish rantings. The content is different in that I agree with him but style wise he's channeling Rush.
