The Gallup Organizaton just published a poll that says,
More Americans “Pro-Life” Than “Pro-Choice” for First Time. If you read through the article, it is clear that their conclusion don't fit their data. The fist graph they show seems to support the title of the article.
The poll is a bit more nuanced than the graph they grave. Another graph in the same article shows this.
My real question is this, why is Gallup Poll making a claim on a survey where the call is inside their own margin of error and where the facts don't fit the data?
What the Gallup poll is actually saying is that 53% of Americans believe that abortion should be allowed under some circumstances. Pro life or pro choice isn't an either/or question.
Later in the article it says:
83% of their respondents would allow abortion under, at least, some circumstances. That shows that vast majority of Americans believe abortion should be legal and available, they just disagree on the availability.
Their conclusion seems to hinge on this one question.
Are 53% of the people who would allow abortion is some though not all cases pro-life. My brother, a staunch pro-life believer as well as a minister, says that there can be no exceptions, a life is a lfie. Has Gallup proved their point or are they just blowing smoke?
