A question about playing videos on my laptop.
Got a new laptop last summer. Videos load and run as expected on every Web site except those from YouTube. They start and stop like they download 8 bites at a time and then play those 8 bites and on we go until the torture is finally over. Does anyone have any suggestions about why the YouTube videos don't work properly for me when all other vid formats work just fine? Do I need to change some setting somewhere? I'll appreciate any advice that is offered.

2. It sounds like your internet connection may just be too slow

to allow YouTube to buffer enough content so as not to pause. I use a wireless cell connection as modem, so I have that problem. I just start the video, put in on pause until it has loaded the entire content, then watch without problems... If you are using really fast broadband, then I'm not sure what the problem is.

4. Just tried it out.
Let the vid download and then played it. Works like a charm. If my brain weren't so foggy here in my old age, I could have probably figured it out for myself. Thanks for the help!!

5. youtube capture
Howdy padna,
I'm an ole geezer too (probably older than you) and I just wanted to tell you about a nifty little program that you can download for free that lets you save those youtube videos to your laptop. The file type in youtube is .flv and the program for downloading the video is called; YouTubeDownloader.
http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/

When you have the program installed and booted, go to the YouTube video that you want and copy the URL which is in a little box off to the right of the actual video. There are two boxes there with a bunch of letters and stuff in them. Make sure you copy the url. After copying it (control c) go back to the youtubedownloader window and pass the cursor directly over the box that wants the url. You don't have to paste it, the program will grab it automatically. Then select download from YouTube and after you have told the program which file to convert (it doesn't do this automatically) select 'convert video' and choose what format you want it saved in (.wmv or .avi) After it converts it you can find it on your desk top. You may want to change the default file name to make it easier to find. For example, "Keith blows his top" instead of ldksljodi Have fun!
