Sean Penn gets 3-year probation for paparazzi assault

Hollywood's Oscar-winning actor and political activist Sean Penn has been sentenced to a three-year probation for attacking a paparazzi last year, the U.S. entertainment news website TMZ reported.

Last October in Los Angeles, the 49-year-old approached a paparazzi, who was taking pictures of him, kicked him in a leg and broke his camera. One of the bystanders filmed everything.

Penn, an old-time Democratic supporter and a personal friend of U.S. President Barack Obama, was charged with misdemeanor vandalism and battery.

According to TMZ, "Penn was also ordered to perform 36 hours of anger management, which can be done through a private therapist," and 300 hours of community work.
