91 percent believed the stimulus legislation lost jobs;
72 percent believed the health reform law will increase the deficit;
72 percent believed the economy is getting worse;
60 percent believed climate change is not occurring;
49 percent believed income taxes have gone up;
63 percent believed the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts;
56 percent believed Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout;
38 percent believed that most Republicans opposed TARP;
63 percent believed Obama was not born in the U.S. (or that it is unclear).

2. FOX news has made my mother insane

Really. Not kidding.

Here's one of her latest facebook ramblings:

The Postal Service tosses tons of mail in trash bins, and takes 3 times as long as UPS and FedEx. The government won't be delivering, but it will be deciding exactly what you get and what you can't have. And, oh dear, it takes another 128... bureaucratic entities - gobs more government high paying jobs - to do that, while making certain that doctors are penalized if they treat you the way they feel they should. It's all in there... Polls of practicing doctors have shown that a huge percentage will leave the profession as quickly as possible. Who is going to care for you but government drones who were educated under affirmative action guidelines also spelled out in there.... and every single aspirin they dispense will be in your records....oh, so private assured by the same people who don't have the sense to encrypt diplomatic cables?

The US government now decided who works, who gets health care, how much employers must pay you, how much you will be allowed to keep, whether or not you can drive, and getting around to telling you what you can and cannot eat. The DOJ can decide to selectively prosecute civil rights violations based on race, ...big government, nanny state will provide from cradle to grave. No need to get all excited about a new idea for a business.... all the regulation will put an end to it before the dream is off the ground.

My mother was a democrat. Her mother loved FDR. We did not ever go to church but she was raised a catholic. She sent her own kids to public school and used to be proud that I had a graduate degree. Then 911 happened and her and my father watched all the news coverage on FOX. And they started going to church. They never stopped watching FOX. Over the years they stopped reading the Washington post or frequenting other news sources because FOX news told them they were biased. Now my mother doesn't call herself a republican but she is a tea party nutcase that spouts FOX news talking points and believes every crazy conspiracy theory out there. Honestly, she needs an intervention. FOX has a hold on her brain and has destroyed the sweet woman she once was leaving nothing but an empty paranoid rambling bigoted embarrassing shambling FOX news zombie in her place. It's like invasion of the body snatchers....or something.

It makes me sad.
