Keith Olberman "if i don't see you..."

I am not trying to start a rumor or be alarming, but did anyone find it very odd what Keith Olberman said to Rachel Maddow when he threw the show over to her this evening? I'm paraphrasing because I am going by memory, I don't have it recorded.

"If I don't see you between now and then, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."

Then she replied..."Thank you but if you think I'm going somewhere and won't see you, you're wrong."

Then there was this awkward moment where he was trying to explain what he just said. He was flustered, and tried to make it seem like he wasn't trying to sound prophetic. He said something like, "Oh, well, that's just something we media people say this time of year."
Which really didn't even make sense, but it was obvious that they both recognized that it sounded weird (and seeming to suggest that he might be a reason he might not be seeing her).

It was like he was trying to suggest he might not be throwing a show over to her again.

1. That's because next week she is doing some special programs - so she won't be in the studio.

3. I saw it earlier and on repeat. what it seems you may have missed

is his muttering about doing something "theatrical".... I think he may be doing a cameo in a movie or on tv. It was clear he wasn't ready to announce whatever it is, but I don't take it as ominous.

4. It seems they or at least KO might be taking off for Christmas

holiday until after New Year's. There is nothing ominous about it.

92nd St. "Y" in NYC with an audience.
