I've heard enough RWers (and "lefties") claiming that Obama's embraced
Bush's stances on plenty of issues, that he's doing the same thing as George W. Bush, that he's alienating his "far-left liberal base" (with his "moderate" stances - kowtowing to the Republicans), it makes me wonder ...

If President Obama is so much doing the same stuff that Bush43 did ...

Then why are they bothering running a candidate for 2012?

Wouldn't it be better for the Republican party to endorse Barack Obama for 2012, since he, according to the tone of enough "conservative" pundits and such, is doing so much of the Republicans' work for them?

1. Ive never heard a 'RWer' say any of that
Ever. I have never heard a 'lefty' call liberalism 'far left'. What an idiotic post.

2. Charles Krauthammer's a lefty?
News to me ...

He pointed out that Obama's speech the other day was embracing Bush's stance ...

5. Well, I think you are seeing "serious" candidates deferring until 2016.
The President is popular BECAUSE he's accomplished a boatload and he'll be hard to beat if he runs on his record instead of running away from it. The Huckster, a serious contender, decided to keep his powder dry because there are no obvious Dem successors in 2016 so the race will be closer and easier to win.

Nobody wants the thrashing the President would give them in a debate, plain and simple and the GOP extremes would murder you if you don't pass their purity test. It is not a good election to be a puke right now.

That being said, certain parts of the President's agenda do look highly similar to the right's. Sometimes I'm mad/disappointed and a member of the "Professional Left" but when I'm more charitable I think it's because when you get to the White House you find that your preconceived notions of how the world works are challenged by the requirements of the real world.

I'm willing to give him some of that benefit of the doubt despite my disappointment at those things, but I take umbrage when I'm told that my disappointment is somehow a right wing plant or tool.
