Washington Week's Ifill accuses Dems of engaging in "class warfare" with Obama jobs bill.

.. Gwen Ifill is always happy echo GOP talking points (disinformation) and repeat GOP lies.


On the Friday, Oct. 7th airing of Washington Week in Review, Ifill was in full form when she took the opportunity to malign the Democrats' motivation in modifying the President's Jobs Bill which the GOP have, with self satisfaction, already pronounced 'dead' . After Janet Hook, Wall Street Journal, gave a short summary of how President Obama's Jobs bill had been modified by the Senate Democrats because as Hook said, some Democrats (from oil producing states) were not going to vote for the President's bill because of tax increases on oil companies and in the interest of "simplifying the message" by 'raising' taxes on millionaires, rather than limiting deductions for those making over $250,000 per year, etc.

Then Ms. Ifill cheerfully recited her lines (no doubt provided and coached by GOP operatives):

MS. IFILL: If you’re going to do class warfare, just go all the way.

MS. HOOK: Right. Just go whole hog. Right.

MS. IFILL: Not that I’m SAY-ing it’s class warfare(uttered in broad burlesque). (Laughter.)

MS. HOOK: No, it’s math.

...to which Ifill concurred with a smirk "It's Math" (hammed-up like a circus clown in grease paint).

I'm sure Ifill won points with her GOPer handlers, mocking the President and declaring his explanation and rationale for his Deficit Reduction plan as nothing but flat, bald faced lies. No mention was made of the "Buffett Rule" (intended to see that millionaires and billionaires pay as high a tax rate as middle class folk), unveiled by the President as a necessary part of any Deficit Reduction plan and which one might suspect inspired the Senate Democrats in modifying the President's Jobs bill to win all Democrats support.

Interestingly, Ifill's keen sensitivity for 'class warfare' did not manifest itself when George 'the Shrub' Bush passed tax cuts, 50% of which went to the wealthiest 2 to 3% of the population. Nor was it apparent when the Republicans demanded, as the price of their allowance of the passage of the extension of unemployment benefits for those put out of work by the Republican's TRICKLE DOWN - DEREGULATION DISASTER - a continuation of the Bush Tax cuts to those wealthiest of citizens - the very tax cuts which did so much to create the Republican Trickle Down Disaster in the first place.

Ifill takes so well to her role as a whore for the GOP. Jim Lehrer better watch out. He may lose his hard won distinction, Most Ardent Fascisti Fellatiator, to the eager-to-please Ifill.


....perhaps it's asking too much of gossip-centric Washington Week show to consider but the rationale for returning to the pre-Bush tax cut rates for those making over $250,000 a year and making sure that those with annual incomes of at least a million dollars pay a high a tax rate as middle class folks - is that shifting too much of the tax burden away form the wealthiest and putting too much on the middle class is what lead to a weakening of aggregate demand over the last couple of decades which reduced economic growth and real business opportunities for investors. This twisted tax code produced the conditions leading to the Republican Trickle Down - Deregulation Disaster.

She was always the best of friends with Condi Rice-- who likewise seemed oblivious to issues of poverty, inequality, racism, despite growing up at the time of the Birmingham church bombings. Her unbelievable shopping NYC spree during the tragic Katrina debacle comes to mind.
