I came across this letter to the editor in today's Philadelphia Inquirer. It's a response to an article on Anne the Man by staff writer Beth Gillen. At best, the Gillen piece was but mildly critical, not at all a vicious ripping that Coulter so rightly deserves. Initially, I thought the following might have been intended to be sarcastic, but it appears that R.M. Lipshutz, esq. is serious here.
"Beth Gillen's article ('Coulter, sweetly disemboweling the left wing', July 30) was intellectually dishonest and a classic example of the media prejudice against conservatism shown by the vast bulk of your staff.
Although Gillen concedes that Ann Coulter's book (Treason: Liberal Treachery From the Cold War to the War on Terrorism) is a best-seller, she says it is so despite 'being almost universally panned'. As authority for this statement, she cites a writer for the liberal online e-magazine Slate, one reporter from Newsweek, and a writer from a Web site called 'bookreporter.com.'
She does not quote the reviews of any writer from National Review, the Weekly Standard, or the Wall Street Journal. She does cite a favorable comment from Pat Buchanan, which, considering the demographic of your readership, is the kiss of death.
Gillen seemed jealous of Coulter's good looks. Most women would be. Coulter happens to be beautiful. Many years from now, Coulter's looks may fade, but the quality and the accuracy of this book never will."

So, Bobo has manage to touch on:
Media prejudice (That would be the LIBERAL media)
No credibility of on-line sources (esp. LIBERAL sources, such as Slate. Does not Andrew Sullivan write for Slate?)
The gall of the Inquirer for pandering to its "demographic". Never mind that ALL articles by Krauthammer, Goldberg, Charen etal. appear, along with the usual Chimp worship, on its pages.
The quality and accuracy (or is it the lack thereof?) of Coulter's efforts will be with us always.
BTW, he failed to mention that National Review canned Anne's ass.
Good work, Bob. We understand you've a thankless job, digging in with the Forces for Chimpy's Re-Selection. Great Stuff. Saving us from the evildoing liberals. Feel free to e-mail Robert to "thank him" for getting the word out.
