A friend of mine pointed out that Faux "News" is top shelf comedy programming. Rather than a source of outrage and disgust--or a place to be ignored altogether-- Faux is a great place to turn to for some quality belly laughs. Last night we watched "Special Report" through a comedic lens, and, sure enough, we were rolling in the aisles!
The coverage of the Clarke bombshell was priceless. Former Bush I tennis pal turned "fair and balanced and unafraid" Faux anchor, Brit Hume, reminded us not once but twice within the span of one minute that Clarke was a "Clinton holdover." He then oh-so-condescendingly referred to Clarke's expose of the Bush administration’s criminal negligence and grossly misplaced national security priorities as “a sort of memoir.” The French pronunciation of the word memoir was unmistakable, as was the obvious implication that this Clinton holdover was effete Euro slime. Do not trust.
Next, White House "correspondent" Jim Angle smirkingly echoed Faux demigod Dick Cheney’s assertion that flakey euro-traitor Clarke skipped out on numerous high-priority national security meetings at the White House and was pretty much “out of the loop” on terrorism. Funny how being the terrorism guy in the White House situation room on 9-frigging-11 is characterized as being out of the loop.
Great stuff!
Anyway, try Faux as comedy. I recommend “Special Report.” Make sure to hang in for the Faux All Stars roundtable discussion toward the end of the program. Don’t worry, we “lefties” are fully represented by Mara Liason, Mort Kondracke, and Juan Williams.
Yes, that was a joke.
