Clear Channel Communications has filed an application with the FCC to move radio legend WWVA from Wheeling, WV to Stow, OH near Cleveland.
WWVA has broadcast from Wheeling for over 75 years, and it's 50,000 watt signal is the highest powered radio station in the state of West Virginia. WWVA's nighttime signal is heard in in 18 eastern states and 6 Canadian Provinces.

In December, Clear Channel virtually eliminated all local programming, and drastically cut the local news department. In their place CC added right wing programming like Hannity, to it's line up which includes Pittsburgh's Jim Quinn, Glenn Beck, and Rush. A good deal of the local news is done by cyber anchors from Harrisburg, PA
It appears that CC thinks that they can make more money by moving the 50 Kw signal closer to Cleveland, and turning their back on a community which has supported WWVA for over 75 years.
Just another in a long list of reasons that deregulation of the media does not serve the public interest.
