PLEASE tell me someone was taping Stern this morning...
...Al Franken was on Howard Stern this morning and it was SPECTACULAR. And after the (unusually lengthy) interview with Franken, Stern was having Artie Lang do a spoof of the song "Because I Got High" by Afro Man, with his best Rush Limbaugh impression. I almost crashed my car on the way to work laughing so hard! If anyone HAPPENED to be taping this, please let me know. Also, any information regarding how to obtain transcripts, tapes, etc. of radio shows would be MUCH appreciated.

Artie Lang, as "Rush", to the beat of "Because I Got High" by Afro Man: "I was going to vote for Bush, I must be high... I bribed my maid to score for me, so I could get high... now I'm in a Denny's parking lot and YOU know why... so I could get high, so I could get high, so I could get high... dada da da dada da..."

3. i just checked it- it is a pay service ($35 membership),.......
and they will not let non-members search to see exactly what is available prior to purchasing a membership.- perhaps kissmyasscroft can fill us in with more details? i live in clearchannel land, and if i could get ahold of all the shows i have been missing for the past month, it would def. be worth 35 bucks..

4. You can get it for free at other places!
go to www.torretz.com -- you can download the exact same file for free -- all you have to do is register with your e-mail. The BitTorrent software is FREE, as the directory service SHOULD BE. I don't know who these clowns are tricking people into paying for software THEY DON'T OWN!

5. Hmmm... that's odd.
I just went to that website and clicked "Search" for Howard Stern and it gave me a ton of results (all shows from Feb. to now) and I didn't pay anything. Granted, I've not yet tried to download anything (until I get home). But yeah, $35 would be worth it for the Stern stuff alone.

7. They make you pay to download the .torrent file associated with download
You can't download the files without having the associated .torrent file, and THAT'S what they're charging you $35 dollars for-- access to their library of .torrent files.

The .torrent file supplies data to the BitTorrent application that it needs in order to establish a secure connection with anybody hosting the file. If you just try to enter the URL provided on the page you will not be able to download anything.

You can download the same files at http://www.torrentz.com for free without paying a thing.

9. Thanks AGAIN for the info, Taco!
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 03:01 PM by Grown2Hate
although, one question... when I did a search on the site that charges you, they seemed to have FAR more Howard Stern episodes... dating all the way back to February. Maybe they archive torrent files and that's why they charge? Or am I doing something that's not allowing me to see them? Any help, again, is MOST appreciated. In fact, you've done more than enough. I'm just greedy. hehe Thanks a million.

12. About charging for bittorrent sites..
There are some sites that ask for contributions, like the British-based phoenix-torrents.com - which supports the cost of running their trackers. (The tracker is a computer that coordinates all the people running bittorrents, and helps you connect.)

But "supErnova" is distinctly ripping off the clients of "suprnova" in this case. This has been reported on suprnova many times. Your money isn't going to help support the bittorrent community at all, but to line someone's pocket. (Wouldn't be surprised if the guy running the ripoff operation is a Republican.)
