Michael Goodwin, Republican Feather Brain

In a recent column in NY Daily News, which I can't locate online, this pimple on the behind of GWB rattled on about WJC recent statements re: terror, Iraq, etc. Claims Bill is covering for Hil so she can run for pres. blah, blah, trying to 'fool' people, Dem war strategy is flawed, Israel failed because they didn't strike Lebanon hard enough; you get the idea. Here is my response to my local paper which ran the column and cc to Goodwin himself.


POOR MICHAEL GOODWIN

So determined is he to defend the failed policies of his fearless leader that he feels he must psychoanalyze former presidents in his column (Aug. 24, Iraq:Democrats flawed war strategy) to support his delusions. Republicans are threatened by Clinton because he is quite a bit smarter than most of them, and infinitely more intelligent than their no-class, frat-boy messiah. I am so tired of Republican pundits 'translating" for us what Democrats REALLY mean when they say things. "Let's deconstruct" seems like a code phrase for "let's see if we can twist the meaning of". Of course Michael, Clinton is trying to 'fool' us again. Everyone knows Republicans would NEVER "repeat the fiction" for political gain. What Mr. Goodwin neglects to share with his readers is that the Republican strategy of portraying Democrats as America hating, terrorist lovers is meant to 'fool' Americans. Yes Michael, all Democrats hate America and want it destroyed by terrorists. If enough people believe this lie, or that Bush is a born again "man's man" chosen by God, or that the situation in Iraq is improving but the liberal media won't report the 'good' news, or that Dick Cheney had nothing to do with Halliburton's no-bid contracts, or that tax breaks for billionaires will create jobs, or that terrorists are waiting for Democrats to win so they can attack us again, or that liberal activist judges are destroying our country, or the silly "fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here" routine as an excuse to pre-emptively attack sovereign nations, or any of the hundreds of other lies we've been force-fed, then Republicans win. Cute sayings and snappy slogans are a strategy to win elections, not solve problems. "Stay the course" is not an example of brilliant foreign policy. What Republicans like Mr. Goodwin also tend to ignore is the fact that Iraq was not full of Islamic militants before we got there. There are more terrorists and there is more violence in the world, and America is hated more and in greater danger as a direct result of our glorious leader's misguided war in Iraq. Republicans like Mr. Goodwin ought to worry about the corruption, cronyism, dismantling of the Constitution, and presidential disregard for our laws in their own house before attempting these phony smear campaigns. Mr. Goodwin never quite explains his scary statement that "Israel's failure to land a knockout punch instantly" emboldened Hizballah. Is he saying Israel should have totally destroyed or nuked Lebanon? What Israel's attack on Lebanon proves is that you can't bomb terrorism out of existence. It is not a country. Mr. Goodwin thinks "our failure" in Iraq would embolden terrorists everywhere. What he doesn't realize is: because of George W. Bush's unmitigated ignorance and delusional incompetance, we've already failed.
