A Bush-Speak Dictionary
In listening to our President, I've found that when he uses a word or phrase it means just what he chooses it to mean - neither more nor less. This often leaves the rest of us in the dark as to exactly what he's talking about. We need to improve the quality of communication between the White House and the nation. My solution is to start compiling a dictionary of Bush Speak. I've started with a few entries below. Anyone who wants to contribute is very welcome.

The Department of Homeland Security
A cabinet-level department entrusted with the job of making the “Homeland” secure.

The Homeland
A synonym, used mainly internally, for the Bush Administration (Also see, “Homeland Security”)

People of Faith
Theocrats

Islamo-Fascists
See, “People of Faith”

To Stay the Course
To sit tight and hope that the Iraqis manage to kill themselves off before they are able to kill off all of our soldiers

The Terror Threat Level Indicator
A color-coded scale which indicates how terrified of the opposition the Republicans are feeling at any given point during an election campaign. Red means that they’re really running scared.

A “Good” Man/Woman
A major campaign contributor; a person placed in a position of power within the government for which he/she in totally unqualified; an incompetent.

A Town Hall Meeting
A group of Republican Party faithful who have gathered to hear the Leader or his anointed speak and to offer him or her praise and adulation. Town Hall Meetings are not open to the public.

1. Double-Speak
The other day, while working in my garden, I heard portions of Rush Limbaugh and Neal Bortz in their daily condemnations of all things non-ultra-conservative. I had questions I wanted to ask them but didn't have the time to stop my work and call them. So I will post these questions and maybe someone can answer them.

Both Mr. Limbaugh and Mr. Bortz referred to "Islamo-fascists." I would like to know if these "Islamo-fascists" are compatriots with the Christo-nazis who shave their heads, hang crosses on a chain around their necks, and salute the swastika flag covering a wall in their meeting room.

Also, both Mr. Limbaugh and Mr. Bortz insisted that democracy is not a good thing, that our country's founders did not build our new nation on democracy, that we must separate ourselves from the democratic value of "the majority rules" to submitting to the will of our leaders no matter how much we disapprove of what they are doing. So I am wondering, if democracy is such a bad thing, why are our government leaders applauding their efforts at bringing democracy to Afghanistan and Iraq?
