Is Huckabee Frightening or Laughable or Both? (hey, I broke 1000)

Here's one politician that tells us what he thinks...and it's freaking me out!

Huckabee is a former governor and Baptist tele-preacher and it is the preacher experience that drives him. He has a Bible based view of science which would mean a Huckabee administration will force the U.S. science community into denial or back alley experiments. Which is exactly why the religious right supports him.

He also wants to address the nation-wide problem with handgun violence by flooding our communities with handguns. This is the Archie Bunker approach...The fictional Archie once explained that the answer to airline hijackings was to "arm your passengers." The millennial version of Archie Bunker is living and breathing and threatening to win the Republican nomination for President.

And, in this cycle's slate humor starved of candidates, Huckabee is funny. It may be his willingness to laugh at himself that puts him in the White House. If you ignore the undercurrent of blatant racism, you can find a lot of funny Arkansans.

3. To me he is frightening. I think about him, a popularist, with the ear of the MSM.

And so, he is taken seriously, and may win Iowa.
I think about him as president, and believe the hope comes from more Democrats in Congress, to squash him, but since Bush ignores congress, I don't know what a Huckabee would do.

6. This guy IS the Christian Right...

and says as much on the stump. I know nobody of sane mind wants the GOP to win in 2008. Many progressives have said they prefer Huckleberry to be the GOP nominee as he'd be the easiest to beat. Perhaps he would be.

But what IF? What if this uneducated (I don't count "Chacquita Banana Bible College" as an education ... a mis-education, maybe) polyester-sport-coat-wearing snake-handler actually wins? I don't put it past the forces of the right wing to steal another election. With Diebold, the courts, and the media in their pocket, who knows what could happen? I would venture to guess 70% of the country plans on voting Democrat next year, but how many will be mysteriously removed from voter lists? How many will be told to vote on the wrong day by GOP goons? How many cops will be stationed menacingly around polling places to intimidate those who justly fear abusive, racist cops?

If Huckleberry gets elected, I think he could wake up after a bad dream and think baby jesus told him to nuke Iran, Russia, China, Belize, and New Mexico (not realizing it's actually part of the US, not Mexico). Who knows what type of insanity he'll force on this country? His superstitious, ignorant, racist and chauvanistic actions could spell disaster on a level that makes George W. Chimp look almost competent.

At least with the other GOP assclowns, I get the feeling that their bible-thumping is at times forced. Huckleberry is a dyed-in-the-wool religious nut. He's the bastard child of Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, and he's actually being taken seriously.

THAT scares the HELL out of me. It should scare you too.

I think the second less dangerous repub candidate is Fred Thompson. He is so lazy, he wouldn't do much damage. With strong dem leaning congress most of the legislation will pass through.

If you’ve been paying attention, this analysis should remind you of someone else we’ve grown to hate. I had a disturbing flashback while watching MSNBC on Thursday night. When Huckabee was announced as the winner in the Iowa Republican primary, the press was absolutely gushing about how much the reporters all like this guy.

That’s a really bad sign. If the press likes someone they seem unwilling to dig for the hard facts. And just like George W, there are plenty of hard facts to dig up on the Huckabees. Many of the facts, however, will be hard to find because he destroyed a lot of evidence when he left office in Arkansas.

Huckabee’s last act before he left the Arkansas Governors office was to destroy all of the hard drives from the computers in the state offices. This is a Federal crime, but it can’t be prosecuted unless someone can prove that the information on the drives was official government information that was covered under the Freedom of Information act. Since the drives were destroyed, that would be impossible to prove. His excuse for destroying the drives was that he was protecting social security numbers. Bunk. A simple low-level format would have protected the social security numbers. The only reason to physically destroy the drives is so that they cannot be analyzed by an electron microscope. Since very few private citizens have access to such technology, the drives were destroyed to hide the information on them from law enforcement and government agencies. If this doesn’t raise a red flag, you’ve not been paying attention.

Well, if Huckabee is such a nice guy, why does he break the law? Why do his sons and wife have a history of ethical, moral and legal infractions? This ties into his religion. The Southern Baptists believe that salvation is achieved through faith alone. A bumper sticker that you will frequently see in the south says, “I’m not perfect, I’m just saved.” SoB’s believe that it is ok to do anything they feel like just so long as they go to church on Sunday and testify to their love for Jesus. The flaw in this religion is that there is no motivation for people to be good or do good deeds. Any means to an end is ok. So long as you love Jesus, you will be saved. After all, God wouldn’t motivate you do a certain thing if he didn’t want you to do it, would he?
