Mission Accomplished
I'm "employed" in the housing sector which has been in a deep-shit depression for 2-years.
This image pretty much sums it all up.

The residents of "Ontario Tent City," a Bushville formerly home to approximately 400 homeless people, were evicted today and their possessions bulldozed. "I have nowhere to go," and "I don't know what I'm gonna do," were the refrains heard over and over.

The few residents who were allowed to stay were relocated to a lot across the street from the main settlement to allow for "improvements

And the original booosh model...

1. Good Lord...All the degrees from Harvard and Yale have been
filling the highest offices in this govt. For those who have thought that these are the greatest minds and intitutions of learning,I want to know, do these intitutions ever teach accountability? Maybe that should. Make it a 101.... Forget how holy you are. Creating poverty is a crime.....

4. same thing happening all over Seattle
even small encampments are getting "swept" out. where they are supposed to go, no one has any ideas. I guess the powers that be are just hoping the harder it is made for them to survive they'll all commit suicide.

the small group that has lived under the freeway near my workplace for at least 5 years just got notice the other day, and they have no plan on how to continue their meager existence. it is also heartbreaking to see how sad they are to have to leave their cats that they have bonded with and taken care of for so long. One man had tears in his eyes talking about leaving "mi amiga", and I promised to feed her and not take her to a shelter like I am going to try to do with the other couple of tame ones, at that camp and another one down the way. It's impractical and difficult to carry a cat around in a carrier from one temp locale to another, and cats try to rehome unless they're kept inside for a few weeks, so she really has to stay for her own safety. at she will be fed, unlike all these other cats all over the city that have depended on their fellow homeless for survival.

9. "where they are supposed to go?" Simple answer.. DIE, and do it quickly.
The powers that be, and everyday Joe already have a cover for that... anyone who kills themselves, no matter how desperate they are, is "Mentally Ill".

So, push 'em out till they kill themselves, then shrug and say, "They should have gone for 'help' ".

:grr:

What pisses me off is "progressives" not tackling this strongly.

It isn't a priority for "liberals" and "progressives".

They're content to stay at the handwringing stage.

11. Where is John Edwards now?
Mr. "I care about poverty" isn't out there rooting for the homeless now that his campaign for the presidency is over- and he wasn't out there before the campaign either.

12. Interesting that you took my reply,
Interesting that you took my reply, which is a TRAGEDY, and turned it into a political screed.

It would be really nice if SOMEDAY all those who like to call themselves "progressives" would actually be PROGRESSIVE about poverty.

5. I'll admit it. I didn't know who the guy shaking hands with Bush was.

Had to "think" about it. Once the answer was 'presumably' discovered, the rest of the pictures and theme made sense.

10. kick- this a huge crisis and happening nationally
interesting the timing-I know the unfortunate people in the camp near me have lived there for at least five years, probably longer, with the only distubance being city workers coming by now and then to take away their few pieces of plastic patio furniture. like that would make them leave-oh no, no patio furniture, this place sucks, let's go find better digs.

why is this happening now? or at all? especially with more people becoming homeless than ever? another way to make sure Bushco's legacy continues I guess.

13. What are the other people living near you doing about it?
Any political action taking place?

Any neighborhood or town meetings?

Any addressing the local politicians?

14. oh, lots of protests and meetings, but the city was determined
I don't think the protests are over yet, or even really just beginning. at least the protests got some media coverage, especially the camp-outs in front of City Hall, but this city is becoming increasing Libitarian minded. Ron Paul got something like 27% here-and everyone knows the whole "niceness" reputation Seattle has is more like baring your teeth and pretending it's a smile.

15. What will the next great depression look like?
I wonder what the authorities are going to do about the Bushvilles when their number increases tenfold in a couple years?
