... What we've seen recently with Cheney that's so unsettling is that his relationship with power is even less healthy than some suspected while he was actually exercising it. If that weren't true, he wouldn't be exhibiting such acute withdrawal symptoms ...

Why would he be saying that Colin Powell, whose integrity Powell was manipulated into squandering before the United Nations Security Council, should leave the Republican Party to real Republicans like Rush Limbaugh?

Because he's afraid. And because he's traded the power of secrecy for the power of attention, which right now is the only power he has.
