Limbaugh, Cheney top lawmakers as voice of GOP (The Hill)
by Reid Wilson
Posted: 06/10/09 10:18 AM

... Asked who speaks for the Republican Party, 13 percent of adults point to Limbaugh, who has courted controversy recently by saying he is rooting for President Obama's policies to fail. Ten percent chose Cheney, who has emerged as the leading opponent of the president's national security policy, which he says makes the country less safe.

Among self-identified Republicans and those who lean toward the GOP, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) ties Limbaugh at the top; 10 percent of Republicans say the radio host and the former Speaker are their party's top talkers.

Overall, 6 percent of adults say Gingrich and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the GOP's 2008 presidential nominee, are the top voices in the party. McCain and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) — who won over just 1 percent of respondents — are the only two sitting elected officials who make the list ...

Indeed, fully one-third of self-identified Republicans see their own party in an unfavorable light. Fewer than two-thirds of Republicans — 63 percent — see the GOP favorably ...

2. Politics aside, Cheney has actually served in the Government.

Limbaugh is a fucking radio show host. He has never served anything more than his ego and his paycheck.

He doesn't make laws or is a "lawmaker" in the faintest sense of the word.

4. Try reading "top" as a verb. Maybe headline writers get bored and do this deliberately
