Hawaii slams door on 'birthers,' who turn to Obama Social Security number (CS Monitor)

... The state government can legally ignore repeated requests for President Obama’s birth certificate – a blow (or perhaps a publicity boost) to the birther movement, which claims that Mr. Obama was not born the US, and is therefore not eligible to be president.

The birthers are instead turning to another claim against Obama’s legitimacy: an Internet rumor that questions the Obama social security number. Two private investigators claim that the digits indicate that it was issued in Connecticut, not Hawaii. (The digits in a social security number are allocated based on state of residence when issued.) They also say his social security number belongs to someone born in 1890 ...

In an interview with WABC Radio in New York, Governor Lingle said ... “The president was, in fact, born at Kapi’olani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii ... And that’s just a fact” ...

that SSN's were issued at birth. Back in the day, many people did not get one until their first job!

12. A person can have a social security issued in any state

When Obama was born it was not required for children to immediately get a social security number as today. I know many many people born in one state who got a social security number in other states.

And I also know that social security numbers are sometimes re-issued. If a person was born in 1890 we now they were probably dead by 1990. No body could draw any social security or use that number so it could be re-issued.

Check with social security and see.

15. The birthers are nuts because their minds cannot come to grips

with the idea that for the first time in the country's history, a "proper white Christian man" isn't President.

So they construct this alternate reality in which Obama was actually born in Kenya, his mother planted a fake birth announcement in a Hawaii newspaper, he's a secret Muslim who studied in a madrassa for half his life, and that he somehow fooled every single background check performed on him as a state Senator in Illinois, a U.S. Senator from Illinois, a Presidential candidate, and eventually the President with a "fake" birth certificate generated by the health department in Hawaii, who (by the way) is also somehow in on the scam.

All because their tiny, underdeveloped brains cannot conceive of a world that has socially advanced beyond the 1950s.
