NYT: Michele Bachmann has now raised $9.5 million
NY Times reports:

Last week, Ms. Bachmann reported raising about $9.5 million on the race by the end of September, $5.4 million of that just in the last few months (a figure that experts here said was more than any other House candidate from Minnesota had ever raised in an entire campaign). Clark, a state lawmaker, has also collected a lot — nearly $4 million, one more sign of how this Sixth District race has come to carry symbolic value larger than just control of one more House seat.

Yep, talk about Republicans buying elections. In my home state California, the Republican gub. candidate Meg Whitman has raised over $100 million for her campaign while her Democratic challenger Jerry Brown has only raised $40 million or so.

2. And according to the Star from Minneapolis
her pastor who begs from money for her from his pulpit is finally going to be investigated and they are thinking about taking his tax free status away. I hope to hell they do. He got on his TV and told the people to vote for her. That is against all the laws and they did nothing, what with all the complaints now an Independent group has filed charges.

3. There should be 2 sets of fundraising numbers reported.
(1) That shows total funds raised from the voters in the State/district where the race is and
(2) The amount raised by outside interests.

I suspect Michelle is largely benefiting from (2).

4. You're out of touch - Whitman has spent over 140 million dollars of her own money to date - Brown
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 01:04 PM by GreenTea
has not spent even 16 million dollars to date (Oct 20, 2010) in California's Governors race.

"Republican Meg Whitman as of now, (OCT 6 2010) the total expenditures from her campaign have reached $140 million

At the same time, (Oct 6, 2010) Democratic Jerry Brown's campaign has spent only $10 million, a pittance compared to Team Whitman. And it turns out that they've also stockpiled $22.5 million for the home stretch of the campaign -- which will probably be less than what Whitman spends in the same time period, but certainly enough to get his message across and remind voters that he exists".

(The above two paragraph's was taken from Talking Points Memo, written two weeks ago. Whitman has since gone well over the 140 million dollars spent on her own campaign of her OWN money - Talk about republicans trying to buy elections).
