National Review: "The Bush rehabilitation has begun" (Jeb Bush 2012)
Edited on Tue Feb-08-11 02:25 AM by alp227
Rachel Maddow reported today that National Review editor Rich Lowry wrote a column advocating former Florida governor and younger brother of G-Dub, Jeb Bush, to run for president in 2012. Among Lowry's reasons? "The Bush rehabilitation has begun. George W. Bush is not exactly popular, but two years of Obama have taken the edge off W.-hatred, and he’s risen from the depths of his unpopularity near the end of his presidency."

Hmm, Bush? Florida? Presidential election? A lot of bad things come to mind when you combine these things.

1. Bullshit premise from Rich Lowry...
Bush's popularity hasn't risen because of Obama fatigue. Almost every ex-president sees a rebounding in his popularity when he leaves the White House.

Hell, his father left his presidency with an approval rating over 50%.

The longer Bush is out of the public eye, the better his personal ratings will seem - but that shouldn't mean Americans want him back.

Fucking nonsense. Goddamn National Review is trash.

2. Damn
For a second, I thought that 'rehabilitation' referred to John Fogerty's old band indicting W for torture.

On the other hand, I suppose that the slimebag currently running Florida makes Jeb look fairly good in comparison.

The only thing Jeb should run for is so that he lives a few minutes longer in a bigass tank full of hungry 'gators.

3. Mark my words
It is NO ACCIDENT the GOP convention is in Tampa in 2012. The GOP cannot get rid of Palin, so along will come Jeb and his boy wonder sidekick, Marco, offering to save the day.

That should scare the whole PLANET, not just the nation, because while W. was a tool of the Cheneys and Rumsfelds, Jeb actually thinks he IS a genius, and wants to wield some illuminati thunderbolts.

7. Mark my words, Jeb will wait until 2016...

He'll do exactly what his corrupt brother did. W.'s name was pushed around around this time in 1995 to run against Clinton because the Bush named had been repaired after an embarrassing mid-term wounded the Clinton presidency.

But as the year went on, Bush realized it was not likely he'd upend Clinton and opted to run in 2000.

Jeb will do the same thing. He's still young and an extra four years will help repair his family's legacy.

PLUS, if the economy is rebounding and we're in a better position in four years than we are now, people will look at Bush in better light than they did when he left office because they'll be feeling better about their situation. I know it sounds insane - but if we're better off in 2015 than 2009, when Bush's presidency ended, the country probably will overlook the Bush era similarly how they overlooked the Reagan era.

:/

10. Didn't he specifically rule out 2012 earlier this year?
And, I believe, said absolutely nothing on the follow-up question about 2016. He's very happy to let someone else be the 2012 scapegoat.

8. Jeb's wife is a felon caught smuggling contraband through U.S. Customs
and both his kids are druggies with multiple arrests. I doubt that's the family values the repukes want to promote if they seriously want to win back the WH.
