The Jobs' Bill - A good idea or what?
Edited on Tue Oct-11-11 03:57 PM by truedelphi
Want to hear from everyone on how good it is (or isn't.)

Although we do need much infra-structure repairs and rebuilding, these jobs do not help two groups that currently need help. One group are those people in the 16 to 26 year old range and who are attending college- they have over 53% unemployment.

And of course, people above the age of 49 who cannot find employment, as no company wants you when you come with an exorbitant health insurance premium on your head.

This bill leaves the above two groups out in the cold.

My own thought - Last week, when called by an obviously foreign person, in a foreign call center, attempting to collect on my spouse's Student Loans, I was appalled.

Why do we have to go through all this damn nonsense about a Job's Bill?

What we need, and it's very simple, probably too simple an addition to the Jobs' Bill
to be a success -

One Presidential Executive Order that states that agencies of the Federal Government attempting to collect on debts owed MUST EMPLOY AMERICANS.

Then maybe some of the economic turmoil could go away. Such a policy could allow disabled people to be at home and use their phone to make money. Students would have part time work. Elderly persons could be employed.

Instead, our government OUTSOURCES even the debt collectors - using people whose abilities in terms of English are so minimal that I politely had to beg off the caller. I simply could not make out what they were saying.

Granted such a simple partial solution would not tie Congress up for days and weeks over endlessly discussing this stuff. And I know those people in the Beltway must have their Kabuki theater, but still...
