Editorial: The glib Mr. Cain (ProJo)
01:00 AM EDT on Thursday, October 13, 2011

Former Godfather Pizza chief executive and now presidential candidate Herman Cain said of Occupy Wall Street: “Don’t blame Wall Street, don’t blame the big banks, if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself.” Should being rich be the main ambition for Americans? And what about the fraud on Wall Street that helped cause the recession?

Mr. Cain has been a big businessman from a modest background. We salute him! But his monetary success results from a mix of ability, pluck and luck. And in the high-tech future the luck of having rich parents will be increasingly important because of the connections and education, and thus career advantages, they afford.
