Daily U.S. Casualties 4/13/2004
As of Monday, 671 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq last year, according to the Department of Defense. Of those, 477 died as a result of hostile action and 194 died of nonhostile causes.
The British military has reported 58 deaths; Italy, 17; Spain, eight; Bulgaria, five; Ukraine, four; Thailand, two; and Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia and Poland have reported one each.
Since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 533 U.S. soldiers have died -- 368 as a result of hostile action and 165 of nonhostile causes, according to the military.
The latest deaths reported by the military:
A 1st Armored Division soldier died Sunday in an attack in Samarra, 60 miles north of Baghdad.
Three Marines died Sunday from hostile fire in Anbar province.

Marine Pfc. Eric A. Ayon, 26, Arleta, Calif.; died Friday from hostile fire in Anbar province; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Army Spc. Adolf C. Carballo, 20, Houston; died Saturday when struck by shrapnel in Baghdad; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Antoine J. Holt, 20, Kennesaw, Ga.; died Saturday when his tent was hit by a mortar round at Balad Air Field, north of Baghdad; assigned to the 603rd Air Control Squadron, Aviano Air Base, Italy.
Army Spc. Peter G. Enos, 24, Dartmouth, Mass., died Friday in Bayji, Iraq, when a grenade hit his patrol vehicle; assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.
Army Spc. Justin W. Johnson, 22, Rome, Ga.; died Saturday when his vehicle hit an explosive in Baghdad; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
Army Staff Sgt. Don S. McMahan, 31, Nashville, Tenn.; died Friday in an attack in Baghdad; assigned to the 1st Battalion, A 94th Field Artillery, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany.
Marine Pfc. Chance R. Phelps, 19, Clifton, Colo.; died Friday from hostile fire in Anbar province; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Marine Lance Cpl. John T. Sims Jr., 21, Alexander City, Ala.; died Saturday from hostile fire in Anbar province; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
