Cross-Dressing Republican Loses Primary

(Fort Worth, Texas) A powerful Texas Republican who fell from grace after pictures of him in women's clothing mysteriously surfaced has lost the GOP primary to represent the party in this fall's state election.

Sam Walls accused his opponent, Bob Orr, of distributing pictures of the 64 year old politician in full makeup, a wig, heels, and a dress. Flyers with the pictures were anonymously distributed to voters a week before this week's primary. (story)

Both men were vying for the GOP nomination to represent District 58 in the Texas House.

Up until the pictures began appearing in voters' mailboxes Walls had been considered the favorite. Despite pressure from the Texas GOP Walls refused to withdraw from the race, and local media focused on the story for days.
