Daily U.S. Casualties 5/5/2004
As of Tuesday, 756 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq last year, according to the Department of Defense. Of those, 549 died as a result of hostile action and 207 died of non-hostile causes.
The British military has reported 58 deaths; Italy, 17; Spain, eight; Bulgaria, six; Ukraine, four; Thailand, two; Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia and Poland have reported one each.
Since May 1, 2003, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 618 U.S. soldiers have died -- 440 as a result of hostile action and 178 of nonhostile causes, according to the military's numbers.
The latest deaths reported by U.S. Central Command:
Four 1st Infantry Division soldiers died from injuries sustained when their Humvee rolled over during a combat patrol near Khalis, Iraq.

Army Staff Sgt. Erickson H. Petty, 28, Fort Gibson, Okla., killed May 3 in Salman Al Habb, Iraq, from attack of small arms fire while providing security at weapons cache; assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 35th Ar mor Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Smith Barracks; Baumholder, Germany.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael C. Anderson, 36, Daytona, Fla.; killed May 2 in the Al Anbar Province, Iraq, from hostile fire; assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14; Jacksonville, Fla.
Army Spc. Ervin Caradine, Jr., 33, Memphis, Tenn.; killed May 2 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his convoy vehicle hit an explosive; assigned to the Army's 91st Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division; Fort Hood, Texas.
