Fun with "Intellectual" Conservative article...
I love picking on the "scholars" at IntellectualConservative.com Their "generous" use of "quotes" throughout their "articles" is always "amusing." And their "logic" is slightly harder to crack then that of the average Freeper... but not by much.

I like to call this exercise "Yeah, but..."

I believe the Jihadists speak for real Islam, as originally set out by Mohammed and his barbarian hordes.

Yeah, but...

Some of our (Christian) men cut off the heads of their enemies; others shot them with arrows, so that they fell from the towers; others tortured them longer by casting them into the flames. Piles of heads, hands and feet were to be seen in the streets of the city. It was necessary to pick one's way over the bodies of men and horses. But these were small matters compared to what happened at the temple of Solomon, a place where religious services ware ordinarily chanted. What happened there? If I tell the truth, it will exceed your powers of belief. So let it suffice to say this much at least, that in the temple and portico of Solomon, men rode in blood up to their knees and bridle reins.

Islam started out as an Arab Imperialist movement, and has only put a "thin veneer" of "religion" over it.

Yeah, but...

As the political bonds that had held western Europe together gradually gave way to a variety of successor states, the idea of a universal and eternal Roman Empire did not die out, but was transformed among recently converted barbarian peoples into the ideal of a Christian Empire. The Western Christian, or Catholic, church, had been the one institution that remained unified throughout the former empire.

Notice, they started in Arabia and ended up ruling everything throughout the Middle East and North Africa, up to Spain and Southern France by the 700s.

Yeah, but...

At its peak in the 12th century, the (Holy Roman) empire comprised most of the territory of modern-day Germany, Austria, Switzerland, eastern France, Belgium, the Netherlands, western Poland, the Czech Republic, and Italy.

The Jihadists openly state that they want to introduce a worldwide caliphate, i.e. global Islamic conquest. But this has always been "traditional" Islam's ultimate goal too.

Yeah, but...

This report proceeds from the belief that America should seek to preserve and extend its position of global leadership by maintaining the preeminence of U.S. military forces. Today, the United States has an unprecedented strategic opportunity... At no time in history has the international security order been as conducive to American interests and ideals... Keeping the American peace requires the U.S. military to undertake a broad array of missions today and rise to very different challenges tomorrow, but there can be no retreat...without compromising American leadership and the benevolent order it secures.

3. This is amusing
"Islam started out as an Arab Imperialist movement, and has only put a "thin veneer" of "religion" over it."

WTF?! Obviously this moran slept through World History. Islam, as far as I have learned, began with Muhammad's confession that Gabriel had spoken to him during a religious experience. This gave rise to "There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger." Islam is actually, if you look at it critically, just an updated version of Christianity. Jesus Christ was ONE of the prophets, but not the last. Trust an "intellectual conservative" to vilify one of the world's most fascinating religions because of 9/11.
