The October Surprise ...ahem
Here it is boys and girls from today's Washington Post. This paragraph clearly outlines what the GOP will try and do changing one despot(Hussein)for another(BinLaden).I figure,as do alot of other people that they'll be pulling OBL out of a spider hole right around John Lennon's birthday.Just in time for the November election.Hoping...We MUST make this public and say that we EXPECT this to happen for political gain. While we KNOW the Bush supporters will justify anything they do.Still this has got to be put OUT THERE

" Bush ended 2003 on a sharp spike of support after the capture of Saddam Hussein and hit 64 percent approval in mid-December. But that brief period of rallying behind the president lasted for only a month, and by mid-January his approval rating had fallen to 53 percent in the Gallup poll. He remained in the low-50s throughout the first months of the year, but in the past month, as the violence in Iraq increased and then the scandal over prisoner abuse hit with full force, his standing fell again. 2. Yea
Randi Rhodes has speculated that one for the last few years too as another ploy they will possibly use. It's like a football game and some of us know what their offensive coordinator has in his bag of tricks and are looking at our DC's plays.Remember the old adage;DEFENSE wins championships

3. I still do not understand Reagan worship. I am old enough to
remember what Reagan "stood for" (literally, another RW frontman). It drives me crazy when I see the wingnuts wanting to change the name of every airport, building, and street (maybe even the country to Reagan States?) to honor him.

4. Both sound valid
to me. I think they may have more up their sleeve. I don't know if "finding" OBL will be enough to spike the polls come October. It's possible that we will start to have a long laundry list of "good news" events starting in September.

5. The "good news" stuff sounds the most plausible.
I don't think it will be Reagan. Nancy hates the Bushes too much to go along with it. They would have to snuff her, too.

7. Yes, I think they have more in mind, too, like maybe a

thwarted terrorist attack. The Saudis will lower gas prices, too.

6. Kerry will be ready for it - didn't we hear of a doomsday plan last week?
Edited on Fri May-14-04 07:35 AM by jean
Kerry war roommates are planning for Oct Surprise scenarios, from what we have heard recently.

Kerry Gathers Doomsday Team

According to Howard Fineman, on with Olberman last night: Kerry approaches political positioning like he does his favorite sport, wind surfing. He constantly anticipates and adjusts to the 'wind and the water,' positioning himself to be in the right place at the right time. He doesn't necessarily care if he is lovable, but does work to make himself acceptable, competent and a worthy candidate.
