The Chickenhawk factor and why it doesn't faze the GOP
Have you noticed how the actual people in the republican party who HAVE served are the ones being attacked these days?John McCain and Colin Powell immeadiately come to mind.I've been thinking that maybe these neo-cons have this sense of entitlement, that THEY alone are the ruling class, and AS rulers they are the ones who choose who will fight qand die in the arena. It will never be them or their family.Picture the Roman Empire and the colluseum, and imagine the repubs as the ones in the closest boxes who will give either the thumbs up or thumbs down to the lowly servants performing. This is how I'm starting to see them,or,perhaps, this is how THEY see themselves.
Am I onto something here?

3. Not just entitled but enlighten.

The neocons have revealed knowledge, I think that's how Richard Clarke described it. Somehow they feel that they've received certain truths from some "higher power" or other that only they are privey too.

4. It started with Reagan
Remember, he and another good Republican (John Wayne) fought in WW2. . .well, actually, they never took bullet, they took blanks on Hollywood sets. Since those are the heroes of modern Republicans, it should be NO surprise to anyone that they would condemn people who actually fought.

Remember when they screamed Clinton dodged the draft? Didn't Quayle and Bush use influence to get cushy National Guard assignment? Didn't Cheney say he had "other priorities?" And why was the Great Drooling Communicator doing what half of major league baseball players were doing?

Because, it is do as I say, not as I do and nothing more to see here.
