Just like his Stalinist forebears, the Bush administration has rewritten history, making formerly close (very close) friends, advisors, and contacts of the President vanish from public memory.
Ken Lay: Does anyone remember the 2000 campaign? It was Lay's private jet that shlepped Bush around the country! Bush even took a day off from campaigning to watch his "Kenny Boy" throw out the first pitch at an Astros game! Forget, for a moment, the Energy Task Force and the market manipulation: Lay is, or was, Bush's best friend--and now he's a nonperson (though of course walking the streets as free and happy as can be).
Ahmad Chalabi: Yeah, we all know about this one. Bush's Man in London Baghdad--now, all of a sudden, "I might've met him on a rope line."
So, who else have the Party unpersoned?
