you're not going to believe this
An increasing number of RWers are saying that the 9/11 commission BACKS UP what Bush has said all along. This morning a local RW shill played a clip of Al Gore calmly explaining (paraphrasing) that bush continues to brazenly assert the connection between Al Queda and Saddam Hussein, which has been proven false. Then the local guy says (paraphrasing) There goes Al Gore continuing to lie about the fact that there WAS a connection between Saddam and Al Queda despite anything the 9/11 commission says. The commission said there were contacts between the two and that's exactly what the president has said all along.

My God, talk about accentuating the positive. If you want to be stupid about it, we have contact with Al Queda - how about those tapes we keep seeing of theirs? And president bush contacts space aliens on a daily basis - it's a fact that we broadcast greetings in every language into space constantly so that proves it. We're getting REALLY loose with facts in this country.

1. It is simply the way they have managed to enter into the minds of people
they tell the outrageous lie--arrogantly--they will say the moon is made out of green cheese, for instance. They will continue the same lie, on TV, in interviews and in speeches, several times. The talking point that the moon is made of green cheese, is sent to Rice then and she repeats it for a couple of weeks also, perhpas supplying a little additive or two of her own. Powell follows and tells the people that indeed the moon is made of green cheese, and he holds up a photograph made by a sattelite , proving it. So many people believe he is the only one who has the ability to tell the truth and is so level headed that it must be true and they begin to believe it.

Articles are written in well known publications, veryfying without research, the word from the White House and Senators stand up on the Senate floor and insist that it is true now.

That is the way it goes.

Anybody who disagrees is doomed, will "never get another job in WAshingto" will be bought out by the Carlyle group, will be called on the phone and threatened as well as his/her family, might be killed in a plane crash, and will be called names publically by Bush's PR machine--they are "wild eyed" and that is how it goes--we know becasue we have watched them do it for three and half years, virtually unchallenged, even enabled by some Democrats. They have ruined the fabric of our democracy, and have been allowed to do so.

4. It's a wingnut talking point...
a few days ago I did my monthly 5 minutes of listening to Pigboy, and he was on a royal rant about the Commission actually "proved" that Saddam and al-Qaeda are linked.

They know their people don't actually read anything, or listen to anything else, so they lie with impunity.

6. From the old RW playbook...
All propaganda must be so popular and on such an intellectual level, that even the most stupid of those toward whom it is directed will understand it... Through clever and constant application of propaganda, people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way around, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise. - Adolf Hitler

Hey, if the shoe fits...
