Of those, 629 died as a result of hostile action and 221 died of nonhostile causes. The department did not provide a weekend update, but the military reported a U.S. soldier was killed in a rocket attack near Baghdad and a U.S. Marine was killed in Anbar province.

The British military has reported 58 deaths; Italy, 18; Spain, eight; Bulgaria and Poland, six each; Ukraine, four; Slovakia three; Thailand, two; Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia and the Netherlands one each.

Since May 1, 2003, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 712 U.S. soldiers have died -- 520 as a result of hostile action and 192 of nonhostile causes, according to the military.

1. Too bad they're not releasing the number of dead of those
service personel who have died OUTSIDE of Iraq. All those injured that died. Estimated number of injured is around 15,000. 6% of that is 900. Percentage is from DOD.

These people are the biggest liars in the history of the world.

2. CNN now using the "hostile deaths" number
after being over 800 for some time, suddenly their count dropped to 629.
