You've heard the mindless right wingers ranting for years that judges are supposed to "interpret the law" and not "legislate from the bench". That was always just Republican-speak for, "we don't like Judges nominated by Democrats".
Now that Bush has found himself caught up in the web of lies his swiftboat buddies have spun, he is trying to find a way out of the mess. His response is to try to ban ALL 527's. He has enlisted John McCain's support in trying to ban all the 527's and not just the ones that are lying for him.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-08-26-bush-ads_x.htm"Bush said if court action isn't successful in stopping the groups from using unregulated political donations known as soft money, he is 'willing to work' with McCain on a legislative solution next year.
Any court action before the Nov. 2 election would be unlikely, though Bush campaign chairman Marc Racicot said 'courts can move with extraordinary speed if circumstances warrant. We believe the circumstances warrant.' He could not specify when a suit would be filed in federal court."
So President Flip-Flop now thinks it's ok for judges to set law from the bench? If they're unsuccessful, they they're willing to consider legislation?
President Bush, please make up your mind...
